Grand ayatollah denounces treason against the country

QOM – Grand Ayatollah Nouri Hamedani has condemned treason against the Islamic Republic system and the Islamic Revolution by the seditionists.

In a message on Saturday, the ayatollah said the United States and the Zionist regime are once again taking advantage of the Iranian people’s grievances in the face of economic problems and have turned peaceful protests into violence and consequent extensive damage to public and personal properties through their local agents.

The grand ayatollah also said the U.S. and the Zionist regime see no “red lines” to undermine Iran, noting their main plot is to “divide up” the country plunder” its resources.

He cited the 12-day war against Iran in June 2025 by the Israeli regime and the U.S. as an example.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Ayatollah Nouri Hamedeni said it is necessary that peaceful protestors set a distinction between themselves and rioters.

He also called on the officials to make utmost efforts to ease the living costs for the people.

Less than two weeks ago, a peaceful protest started in downtown Tehran by the bazaaris (shopkeepers), protesting depreciation in the value of national currency. However, as the protests gradually spread to some other parts of Tehran’s grand bazaar, some ill-wishers misused the situation by resorting to violence. As a few days went by, the protests spread to certain other cities in the country and violent protestors attacked security forces and state buildings. On Thursday night, the unrest intensified as the rioters killed a number of security forces and put mosques on fire.

Also, on Friday night, three security forces, called “protectors of security,” were killed in Gachsaran, Kouhkelooye-Boyerahmad province.
